Summer Program in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics

The Summer Program in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (SPICE&B) is an initiative developed through a joint partnership between the Centre for Renal Research: Information Technology, Innovation, Quality and Education (CR2ITIQuE) and UHN's Transplant Program. The core objective of SPICE&B is to nurture the culture of clinical research by building on the current research knowledge base of clinical trainees and staff within UHN's Multi Organ Transplant Program.

SPICE&B consists of a 10-week educational seminar series of well-planned lectures and workshops designed to educate participants about basic principles of epidemiology, research design, systematic reviews and meta-analysis. Emphasis is placed on understanding the proper application of these core principles and their interpretation in clinical practice. Seminars are led by an array of experts in the fields of clinical research, introductory biostatistics, epidemiology, study methodology and study design.

The target audience includes clinical trainees and hospital staff (medical fellows, residents, nurses, nurse practitioners, research staff, pharmacists, allied health professionals, volunteers and more) who wish to improve their knowledge in the area of clinical epidemiology and biostatistics.
